Wearing sage, blue & beige for a transitional look for fall .
In case you missed it, yesterday I spent some time talking about different shades of green as a great fall color. Since I typically don't go for the brighter shades, I try to wear variations that have a darker, less vibrant hue. So, in today's post I've gone ahead and worn a shade of green that suits my style and taste in a way that I feel is fall appropriate, especially for the Bay Area.
I'm no stranger to skinny jeans - as a matter of fact, they're my favorite. No matter what the occasion, you'll always catch me wearing the slimmest fit available. Since my frame is smaller, I need to find clothing that I don't completely drown in. Anyway, the denim is in a really rich sage that I fell in love with immediately. I was looking for a great transition denim, and was lucky enough to find these at Cotton On (got them in cranberry, too). I paired them with some simple details, keep a very basic palette with my shirt & coat combo.
The shirt is unisex style from American Apparel called 'Le New Big Tee'. It's super comfy and great for everyday use. The coat is by VINCE, my all-time favorite label. All of the coats by VINCE are incredibly made, cozy, & have the free-flowing structure that I love. What I really wanted in pairing these two tops with my jeans is a very complementing coloring. The soft beige and crisp white play well with the natural tones in the denim. I went ahead and paired the outfit with my favorite summer shoe from Donald J Pliner, and accessorized with a Forever 21 tote I picked up years ago.
My conclusion? This look isn't for everyone. It is a bit on the feminine side, so if you're a guy reading this, my advice to you would be to switch out my skinny fit. Switch out the skinnies for a great pair of straight-leg chinos; J Crew is great for that sort of fit. Ladies, if you're reading this and hate pants, consider wearing a fit-and-flare skirt in whatever green you'd like. Pair the skirt with a white spaghetti-strap tank, then throw on a cropped cardigan in beige and bring it all together.
